The Ault Park Pavilion was constructed in 1930 and refurbished in the 1980s. It is now used for weddings and dances, and the highest level of the pavilion provides a view that encompasses the entire surrounding area.

CINCINNATI OBSERVATORY: The Cincinnati Observatory was relocated to Mount Lookout in 1873. Before that, it had been located on Mt. Adams since 1843. Two structures, each from a different century, can be found discreetly tucked away in the historically significant residential neighborhood of Mount Lookout. You can almost feel the history seeping into your veins as you wind your way up the tranquil tree-lined streets and pass majestic Victorian homes in Mount Lookout. And at the very end of the road is a picture-perfect structure that epitomizes the word “Observatory.” It’s shaped like a jewel box and is topped with a silver dome. It is said that the Cincinnati Observatory was “The Birthplace of American Astronomy.” In addition to being the first public Observatory in the western world, it is also home to the oldest operational telescope in the United States. The Observatory is a fully functional observatory from the 19th century used daily by members of the public and beginner astronomers. The two primary telescopes are a refractor created by Merz and Mahler in 1845, measuring 11 inches, and one made by Alvan Clark and Sons in 1904, measuring 16 inches. The historic buildings have been given the status of a National Historic Landmark, and the grounds have been described as having the peaceful atmosphere of a park despite their location in the middle of the city of Cincinnati.
